Lake Toba, Beautiful Impression of North Sumatra

Lake Toba is historical beautiful lake. It is estimated   that Lake Toba ( Mount Toba ) explosion occurred at about 73000-75000 years ago and is the most recent of super volcano eruption.  This explosion is very fantastic and occurred during a week and throw the dust up to 10 km above sea level and the volcanic dust has spread to half of the earth, from China to South Africa. This incident caused mass death and in some species also Followed extinction. According to some DNA evidence, this eruption also reduced the number of people about 60% of total human population of the earth, which is about 60 million people at time.

 

After the Eruption, the caldera formed, then filled with water and became what is now known as Lake Toba. Upward pressure by magma which has not come out cause the appearance of Samosir island in the middle of lake.

Lake Tobe is favourite tourist destination in North Sumatra. Not only beautiful lake which is offered, in Lake Toba,  tourist will be fascinated with fresh air and cool weather. The first impression when you arrive at Lake Toba is feeling great.

Lake Toba is the largest lake in the South-East Asia. It’s about 1700 m2 wide and located 906 meters above the sea level. Lake Toba is about four hours travelled from Medan. Lake Toba is surrounded by the green hills which has the cadas walls. In Samosir island, tourist can find another small lake within which is mention as lake on the lake.
